Why parallel AI agents will break you by 11 AM

Recently, Lenny Rachitsky shared a profound realization that perfectly captures the looming crisis in the tech industry:

"Using coding agents well is taking every inch of my 25 years of experience as a software engineer, and it is mentally exhausting. I can fire up four agents in parallel and have them work on four different problems, and by 11am I am wiped out for the day. There is a limit on human cognition."

He perfectly diagnosed the modern condition. In the rush to adopt AI, we are colliding with a biological absolute.

I've experienced this exact threshold within my own Antigravity agentic setup. I've noticed that I can comfortably operate about four parallel agents concurrently before the cognitive load balloons and overwhelm sets in. That boundary is not a lack of engineering skill; it's a physiological limit.

The Illusion of Infinite Parallelism

When you deploy four AI agents in parallel to solve four distinct problems, you are not delegating; you are incurring massive context-switching debt.

We treat AI agents like infinite parallel processors, forgetting that we must remain the central node. We are the ones reviewing the output, redirecting the logic, and holding the state of all four tasks in our heads simultaneously. In computing terms, you are causing a human buffer overflow. This is the root cause of what we call AI Burnout.
